Spring Tree Planting
Join ComNetworkPDX and Friends of Trees to get your hands dirty for a difference. We'll be sprucing up Gateway Green Park with native trees and shrubs, while building meaningful connections with one another.
ACTIVITIES: This project will plant hundreds of native trees and shrubs at the unique Gateway Green Park in NE Portland! Join Friends of Trees, Friends of Gateway Green, Portland Parks and Recreation, and Portland OIC as we enhance the natural area in this unique mountain-biking oasis situated in between I-84 and I-205.
HOW TO GET THERE: This park is only accessible via the I-205 Multi-Use Path. There is an approximately 10 - 15 minute walk from the West side of the Fred Meyer parking lot (near the Garden Center) down the multi-use path to our planting site, look for our signs. Volunteers are encouraged to bike to the planting or take public transportation to the transit center and walk from there.
WHAT TO WEAR & BRING: Tree work can be dirty business! To make sure your experience is fun and comfortable, please wear comfortable closed-toe shoes or boots and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. It never hurts to bring a water bottle, either.
PROVIDED FOR YOU: Friends of Trees will provide gloves, tools, and guidance, as well as some light breakfast snacks and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. ComNetworkPDX will make sure you have a group of incredible folks to dig in and share the experience with.
Thank you for your support. Together, we're making our communities healthier for all in so many ways!
